A new shocking accident has left Brazil in mourning as a second woman plunged nearly 100 feet to her death while exploring a popular trail. The woman, Rosemary Suzart Garcia, could not be saved.
A tragic hiking trip ended in heartbreak after a Brazilian woman fell nearly 100 feet to her death while exploring a popular trail. The incident comes just one day after another young woman, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, died in a separate extreme-sports accident.
59-year-old Rosemary Suzart Garcia, 59, was hiking with a group of friends and a guide in the hiking area Grutas do Spar in Marica, Brazil, when tragedy struck.
The woman had walked onto a short, narrow path near an overlook when she lost her balance. As reported by Brazilian news outlet Globo, she lost her balance while applying insect repellent.
A witness, Giovani Maximino, told Globo that the friend group’s guide tried reaching for Rosemary’s arm as she tipped off the cliff, plunging nearly 100 feet to her death. However, tragically, he wasn’t able to and was nearly dragged over the edge himself.
“The guide tried to hold her and almost fell too,” Giovani Maximino said, explaining how the guide “threw himself towards her” but only managed to grab onto a “root in the area.”

The witness said that Rosemary Suzart Garcia was wearing safety gear, including a helmet and gloves, at the moment the terrible accident occurred. Emergency personnel later recovered Garcia’s lifeless body, and authorities have launched an investigation.
“I only managed to locate the children, who live in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, at almost two in the morning to give them the news,” Giovani Maximino added. “Until then, we had no contact with any family member. The deadly fall remains under investigation.
The heartbreaking accident came just days after 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas was killed during a rope-jumping event in Limeira in the São Paulo area.
A video that spread on social media shows how she was pushed from a bridge without being attached to the safety rope, leading to a fatal 130-foot fall.
Rest in peace.
